You have to hook your dust collector connection like you would a table saw overhead guard and dust collector or a radial arm saws blade guard dust collector port. Almost all the waste is driven straight.

Dust Collection For Bandsaw
The Dust Right Dust Collector By Rockler It Sucks So Good
This week i show you how to make a new bandsaw table and add a removable dust collection port.
Bandsaw dust collection port. I found that the solution was to attach a length of 4 diameter metal duct to a dust collection hose and then place 1 diameter rare earth magnets in a vertical row along the edge of the saws lower blade cover. Its not 100 perfect but its working. Dust control on the bandsaw you might think should be a straightforward proposition.
I suppose i could drill a hole in the lower cover and attach a second hose to the bandsaw for better dust collection but im not so sure im ready to permanently modify my bandsaw like that just yet. More and more tools both hand and stationary are now designed with dust collection in mind but one great favorite has long remained a source of discontent. By that i mean that the 2 12 port needs to be 3 or 4 ft from the end of the 4 dust collector port so the strength of the vacuum will be stronger.
I have struggled with dust collection to my bandsaw a hammer n4400. The dc is the next planned upgrade but it does a decent job of sucking dust but more power and suction would not go amiss. Its currently attached via friction fit so no drilling to the bandsaw required.
Keep up the good ideas. Band saw dust ports do not suck. After conferring with fellow ljs i simply connect my dust collector hose to the port just below the table.
By reed gray aka robo hippy. The dust you see on the bandsaw base is coming from the fairly large gap 116 left by the lower wheel cover when it is attached. Bandsaws create way more fine dust then you think and they are a real weakness when it comes to.
The dust port. The outlet is a 120mm close to 5 port that is linked by 5 hose 2 hp dust collector via a super dust deputy cyclone. Almost all sawdust ends up either collecting on the lower bearing assembly table trunnion or in the dust collector.
I think i figured out my dust collection problems on my bandsaw. And if the fit becomes loose i can. My grizzly 17 bandsaw has two 4 ports one just below the table and the other at the bottom of the base.
With a thick layer of dust has long since faded away. The older saw has no dust port at all while the newer model has a port thats too small to be very effective. If it works for me im sure a similar approach should work for you.
I just found out the fitting i use in my bandsaw dust port is called an end boot and can be found at duct supply places.
